Reply with quote | #2 | OpenType Fonts (.otf) are the only fonts that will work on both platforms. They were developed by Adobe and Microsoft together.
For older types of fonts: TrueType and PostScript, and for Data Fork (.dfont) there are only two ways to go about making them cross-platform:
1. MATCH THEM: buy fonts for both platforms or use only what you know is already pre-installed. Here is an article from Macworld about that:
http://www.macworld.com/2000/08/features/fonts
Some identical fonts are already pre-installed on the system or come with Microsoft Office. Those are:
Arial
Arial Black
Century Gothic
Comic Sans MS
Copperplate Gothic Bold
Copperplate Gothic Light
Curlz MT
Edwardian Script ITC
Impact
Lucida Handwriting
Monotype Sorts
Tahoma
Times New Roman
Verdana
Wingdings

2. CONVERT THEM: Buy a converting plugin.
CrossFont
TransMac
TT Converter
and TransType are some of them
